On Tuesday, Starbucks officially launched its olive oil-infused drinks, named Oleato, across all U.S. locations. The chain is debuting drinks including Oleato Golden Foam Iced Shaken Espresso with Toffeenut and Oleato Caffè Latte with Oatmilk.
Starbucks' former CEO Howard Schultz came up with the idea for the line.
“During my first trip to Milan in 1983, I was captivated by the sense of community, connection, and passion for coffee I found in the city’s espresso bars. It was that trip that inspired me to bring the ritual of handcrafted espresso to Starbucks and to America,” said Schultz in a statement. “Oleato represents the next revolution in coffee that brings together an alchemy of nature’s finest ingredients.”
The company uses Partanna olive oil in its Oleato products. The offering is available as a line of specialized beverages and as an add-on to select beverages where the customer can order a spoonful of olive oil, called a “press,” as a customization option.
Starbucks also announced Oleato Golden Foam, an olive oil-infused vanilla sweet cream that can be added to select beverages, including the Iced Shaken Espresso with Toffeenut.
First announced in February 2023, the offerings debuted at a Starbucks Reserve in Milan. The drinks were then expanded to select markets including parts of the U.S., Italy, Canada, London, Paris, Osaka, and Tokyo.
