McDonald's Tests Nostalgic Food Concept

McDonald’s will soon begin piloting a retro-style restaurant concept, CosMc’s, that highlights hot and cold specialty drinks with an emphasis on sweet flavors, reports BBC. The locations will operate in the same market segment as Starbucks.

The pilot will soon open to the public in Chicago and expand to 10 locations across Texas by the end of 2024.

CosMc’s will sell sweet items like a Churro Frappe, S’Mores Cold Brew, and Popping Pear Slush, but will also sell more general offerings like a traditional cold brew and a Tumeric Spiced Latte. The locations will also sell food, including McDonald’s veteran items like the Egg McMuffin. Additionally, they will serve a Creamy Avocado Tomatillo Sandwich, a Spicy Queso Sandwich, and pretzel bites, among other items.

As McDonald’s dives deeper into the segment, in which it also tested the McCafe concept serving coffee and sweets, the foodservice giant is planning for its “fastest ever” period of growth, shared BBC.

The expansion includes 900 new U.S. restaurants, 1,900 international stores, and 7,000 in international licensed markets. Full Story
