The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics' Jobs Report, released today, indicates that 336,000 jobs were added last month, almost double economists’ expectations, reports The New York Times.
They were spread across sectors including leisure and hospitality (+96,000), government (+73,000), education and health (+70,000), business services (+21,000), retail (+19,700), manufacturing (+17,000), and construction (+11,000).
At 3.8 percent, the unemployment rate was unchanged from August.
Wage gains meanwhile were cooler than expected with average hourly earnings rising 0.2 percent from the previous month and 4.2 percent from September 2022. Full Story. (Subscription Required)
