Giant Food will open its latest store in Bethesda, Maryland on January 26. The retailer partnered with local restaurants on various in-store offerings.
In the Giant Food deli section, square crust and sweet tomato sauce from locally-owned Ledo Pizza will be available for purchase in addition to Take and Bake Ledo Pizza. This is the thirteenth collaboration between the restaurant and grocer.
Giant has also partnered with D.C.-based Ben's Chili Bowl to bring the restaurant’s comfort food to the store. The collaborations signal an effort to spotlight local brands, according to the grocer.
"Food is a reflection of the communities in which we live. Unique restaurants like Ledo Pizza and Ben's Chili Bowl are special, integral fixtures that truly provide a taste of home," said Ira Kress, president of Giant Food, in a statement. "Featuring them in our stores is something very special for Giant and our customers."
Other store features include a pharmacy, full-service meat and seafood departments, an expanded gourmet cheese selection, expansive prepared food offerings, freshly made sushi, and a Starbucks.
"We're thrilled to introduce a new store to the Bethesda community, including our newest pharmacy, offering ample space, expansive departments, great value and plenty of services and conveniences to delight our customers," said Kress.
