Ultrafast grocery delivery company Getir said Monday it has selected new leadership to head the company’s U.S. Group and FreshDirect teams, appointing Hatice Evren as U.S. Group CEO of Getir and FreshDirect, and Sloan Eddleston as CEO of FreshDirect, effective immediately.
Getir acquired FreshDirect at the end of 2023, citing the potential for the two companies to synergize.
“Getir's technological power will improve FreshDirect's technological infrastructure, and FreshDirect customers will receive their orders much faster with Getir's agile approach. With FreshDirect's wide product portfolio of the freshest, highest quality food products and broad customer base, Getir will accelerate the growth of its fast delivery business in the US,” said the companies in a statement.
In her new role, Evren will work with leaders at Getir US and FreshDirect to facilitate cross-channel development and spur synergies between the two services. Previously the chief of global business functions for Getir, Evren’s experience, coupled with her strategic vision, positions her to lead the U.S. Group into its next phase, said Getir.
Eddleston will report directly to Evren in his new role. He brings knowledge of the grocery, mass retail, on-demand delivery, and food and beverage sectors to the online grocer.
Eddleston’s focus on improving customer value propositions and experience forming high-performing teams will help him build on FreshDirect’s foundations and position in digital grocery delivery, said Getir. He has held a leading role at Walmart related to digital transformation and most recently served as chief marketplace, strategy, and growth officer at Wonder, a food delivery service.
