Gallivant Mawa Ice Cream, the Best New Food Product in Texas -- Coming to a Grocery Store Near You

Specialty Food Association

Houston, TX (February 22, 2001) --Fresh off winning first place as the Best New Food Product for 2020 in Texas in the prestigious Texas Works Awards sponsored by the Texas Department of Agriculture’s ‘Go Texan’ initiative, Gallivant Mawa Ice Cream is announcing the launch of its award winning ice creams in grocery stores in the Southwest and Western U.S.

Gallivant Mawa Ice Cream is a one-of-a-kind frozen dessert, made with South Asian milk solids. The ice creams, which come in seven globally-inspired flavors, are egg-free, gluten-free and contain no artificial flavors and ingredients.

“We’ve been selling our Mawa ice creams online direct to consumers and in independent supermarkets in the Houston, Texas region for the past year, now we’re ready to take our unique and delicious creation to grocery stores and consumers throughout the West and Southwest,” said Snehee Chaplot, founder and CEO of Gallivant Mawa Ice Cream.

Chaplot, who’s spent many years traveling throughout the world as a global citizen, came up with the name for her ice cream brand from that experience. Her travels also are the inspiration for the ice cream’s unique global flavors, like Persion Pistachio, African Chocolate, Thai Coconut, Chinese Black Sesame, Madagascar Vanilla, Indian Mango and others.

“As I gallivant throughout the world I become inspired by the best ingredients in each country I visit,” Chaplot, who’s a food scientist as well as a food entrepreneur, said. “We source the purest and best quality ingredients from throughout the world for our ice creams. The result is you taste the true ingredients rather than simply flavors when you eat Gallivant Mawa Ice Cream,” Chaplot added.

Gallivant Mawa Ice Cream won out over every other food product entered in the ‘Texas Works’ competition, which was judged by chef and food network star Ali Khan. Khan said he chose Gallivant as the best new food product because of its unique ingredient and flavor profile, simply determining that although the competition between hundreds of different food products entered was competitive, the made-in-Texas ice cream was the clear winner.

Consumer packaged foods veteran Victor Martino, director of sales and marketing for Gallivant Mawa Ice Cream, said when he tasted the Mawa ice creams for the first time he knew he had spotted a winner.

“The ice cream and frozen dessert category is super-competitive, and frankly most new brands are “me too” products,” Martino said. “But Gallivant is the exception. It offers grocers a real point of differentiation in the category product mix, and meets the needs and demands of today’s consumer.”

“We’re humbled and excited to have been named the best ice cream in Texas,” Chaplot said. “Now we’re excited to take our unique and delicious ice cream to grocery stores and consumers throughout the Southwest and West. We want people to be able to travel the world while staying at home, treating their palates to the globally-inspired flavors I’ve brought them from my gallivanting throughout the world."
