Casey's to Acquire Lone Star

Iowa-based Casey’s convenience stores will enter Texas following a planned acquisition of Lone Star Food Stores, a Texas-based grocery chain, reports local news source KTEN. As part of the transaction, all 22 locations of the Texas retailer will be purchased.

The existing stores have been temporarily closed while being rebranded and remodeled.

Casey's shared that the transaction should be complete by the end of November and that this expansion "will serve as a springboard into the great State of Texas."

Lone Star’s owner, Douglass Distributing, sold the business after announcing the sale of its wholesale fuel distribution company.

"The Lone Star stores are high-quality stores located on great corners in fantastic markets," said Casey's president and CEO Darren Rebelez in a statement. "We appreciate everything that Bill Douglass and the Douglass family have done in this community and for the convenience industry."

Before the acquisition, Casey’s operated more than 2,500 locations. Full Story
