In partnership with Newsweek, BrandSpark International has produced a special edition of its BrandSpark Most Trusted Awards, highlighting the most trusted grocery stores as voted by American shoppers.
The dominant grocer in the study was Walmart, taking 15 No. 1 rankings and proving their promises of everyday low prices and one-stop-shopping convenience continue to resonate with shoppers.
Yet many other grocers have proven that they can compete with the leader and have secured greater trust with their customers in specific areas. H-E-B achieved No. 1 ranking for “easy checkout experience” and “enjoyable in-store experience,” along with top three ranking on eight important attributes.
Another notable grocer is ALDI, which was ranked No. 1 nationally as the most trusted for “discount grocery” and “small format grocery store.”
The one grocer that ranked No. 1 regionally as most trusted besides Walmart was ShopRite in the Northeast.
"Shoppers want their grocery trips to be convenient and efficient, especially during the pandemic and busy holiday season. This means easily finding the quality items they expect at great-to-fair prices," said Philip Scrutton, vice president of shopper insights at BrandSpark, in a statement. He added, "Great grocers are trusted to fulfill this time after time and across channels, while the best add exceptional service or unexpected value.”
BrandSpark surveyed 3,200 Americans, whose opinions were captured in 32 categories, by store format, and across 22 attributes that drive trust. The retailers were selected from a list of 52 national and regional companies.
