Young Americans Prioritize Healthy Eating Over Entertainment
Millennials and members of Gen Z are scaling back on non-essentials such as streaming services to afford healthy food, show the findings of research from healthy eating platform Lifesum which surveyed 10,000 members of the generations.
"In this era of escalating costs, luxuries become dispensable, but a nourishing, balanced diet does not,” said Signe Svanfeldt, lead nutritionist at Lifesum, in a statement. “While entertainment and gadgets have their appeal, it's healthy food that Gen Z and Millennials prioritize in their hectic lifestyles.”
Lifesum's 2024 State of Healthy Eating and Well-being Report, revealed the sacrifices Gen Z and Millennials are willing to make for healthier eating during what it calls the cost-of-living crisis, including fashion, tech, and streaming services.

- Fashion 62 percent
- Tech and Gadgets 55 percent
- Online Courses 37 percent
