Associated Wholesale Grocers said Friday that Dan Funk (pictured above) has taken over as president and CEO following the retirement of the previous president and CEO, David Smith, in December. On Monday, The National Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Association announced that Tricia Greyshock (pictured above) has been appointed president and CEO.
Funk began his career with AWG as president of AWG’s subsidiary, Valu Merchandisers Company, in 2012. After two years leading VMC, he held roles of increasing responsibility including leading center store, merchandising and marketing, and supply chain. He most recently served as COO.
“I am committed to building on the strong foundation laid by David and working collaboratively with our talented leadership team, membership, and board of directors to drive continued innovation and growth,” said Funk in a statement.
Smith joined AWG in 2003 and became president and CEO in 2015. Under Smith’s leadership, AWG said that it experienced significant growth and success, solidifying its position as a leader in the industry. He was instrumental in steering the company through various challenges and played a key role in shaping AWG’s strategic direction, according to the wholesaler.
Greyshock took over as president and CEO of the National Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Association on Jan. 1, following the retirement of Jeff Rumachik. She joined the organization in 2019 as VP of meetings and industry relations. She was promoted to EVP and COO in 2022 working closely with Rumachik in all aspects of leading the association and executing its mission to promote the sales and consumption of frozen and refrigerated foods.
During her tenure, Greyshock worked with staff to bring record attendance to the NFRA Executive Conference and NFRA Convention and oversaw dramatic year-over-year membership growth, according to the association.
“The frozen and refrigerated foods industry is dynamic and innovative, and I’m honored to take on this role as we build upon our foundational success to unlock new opportunities,” said Greyshock in a statement. “I look forward to collaborating with our board of directors, our membership, and the broader industry to emphasize that frozen and refrigerated foods continue to be a healthy, convenient, and delicious choice for families.”
