Whole Foods will debut its 42,000-square-foot store at One Wall Street in New York City’s Financial District on Wednesday, January 11.
The location’s product assortment will feature more than 1,000 local items from the city and surrounding area, selected by John Lawson, local forager for Whole Foods Market’s Northeast Region.
Features of the store include:
• Organic, conventional, and “Sourced for Good” produce, and offerings from more than 20 local farms, like Gotham Greens, Square Roots, and Oishii.
• A specialty department stocked with local items, including fresh pasta from Severino Pasta, mozzarella cheese from Lioni Latticini, and vegan “cheeses” from RIND.
• A full-service seafood counter with local options from brands like Catsmo Artisan Smokehouse, Acme Smoked Fish, and Lagniappe Foods; all offerings are either sustainable wild-caught or responsibly farmed.
• A full-service meat counter with local options from Briar Woods Farms and Brooklyn Cured.
• A selection of more than 200 craft beers featuring a host of local brands.
• A prepared foods section that includes hot and cold food bars, made-in-house rotisserie chicken, sushi by Kikka, and a self-service pizza station.
• A bakery offering a variety of special diet items, including cake made without gluten or dairy; local offerings including organic grain artisan breads from Bread Alone, pitas from Angel’s Bakery, and Italian pastries from Palazzone Pastry Lab.
The store will also include one of the company’s first-ever Local and Emerging Accelerator Program cohort members, CHKP Foods. The brand’s plant-based yogurt will debut at the store and in the Northeast this January.
To give back to the community, Whole Foods has pledged to support The Battery Conservancy, Rethink Food, Foodbank NYC, and City Hall Park Conservancy. Rethink Food will also receive a refrigerated van to transport perishable and nonperishable food to communities in need through the company’s Nourishing Our Neighborhoods program.
