Walmart will hire 40,000 associates to fill seasonal and full-time positions to meet holiday demand, said SVP of field people, Maren Waggoner, in a blog post.
The company is specifically hiring for seasonal store associates who can help out with in-store and ecommerce pickup and delivery options, full-time truck drivers, and customer service positions.
“As we prepare to serve customers this season, we’ll begin, as usual, by offering additional hours to current associates who want them,” writes Waggoner. “After that, we’ll offer the opportunity for those who want to earn extra money working on a temporary basis.”
The minimum wage for these positions is $17. This rate comes from a recent move within the last few months to raise pay in various areas of the company. Additionally, the company is providing benefits including medical coverage, psychological counseling, and 401(k) matching.
This news comes at the heels of two recent strategy shifts from the company: the first was an improved online marketplace to help sellers and buyers connect, and the second, a partner program with social media platforms including TikTok and Snapchat related to advertising and marketing. Full Story
