Walmart Plans Milk Processing Facility

Walmart unveiled plans in a blog post, Wednesday, to open a milk processing facility in Valdosta, Georgia.

The facility is set to open in 2025 and will create roughly 400 jobs while furthering the company’s commitment to offering high-quality milk. The location will also add resilience to the milk supply chain and build transparency into the retailer's sourcing practices, according to the post's authors, Bruce Heckman, vice president, manufacturing, private brands and Tyler Lehr, senior vice president, merchandising, chilled, adult beverage and convenience.

The milk will be sourced from local farmers. The facility will process and bottle gallon and half-gallon sizes for Walmart’s Great Value and Sam’s Club’s Member’s Mark brands in the following formats: whole, 2%, 1%, skim, and 1% chocolate milk. The facility will service roughly 750 stores in the Southeast.
