Walmart recently began an initiative to gather U.K. exporters to its Walmart Marketplace service, an ecommerce platform where third-party sellers serve a growing base of U.S. shoppers. The decision to embrace U.K. exporters builds on the company’s engagement with the country, coming at a time when the British government has increased efforts to promote a, “Made in the U.K., Sold to the World” campaign.
Trade representatives from both the U.S. and U.K. met recently to deepen trade ties and boost their approximately $241 billion relationship.
Walmart will host a Sellers Summit in London, Friday, with the support of Payoneer and Linnworks, two tech companies.
“Meeting customers wherever they are choosing to shop online, with the right product at the right time is vital to success in business today,” said Callum Campbell, CEO at Linnworks, the U.K.-based commerce automation company. “Walmart Marketplace removes barriers for U.K. sellers by connecting them to high-demand shoppers and offering a straightforward fulfillment solution. Linnworks is here to help sellers effortlessly integrate with Walmart Marketplace, so they can grow revenues, automate their processes, and unlock their business potential.”
Darren Carithers, the senior vice president of Marketplace Development for Walmart International, indicated that British exporters have Walmart’s complete support.
“We are confident that U.K. sellers will be able to leverage Britain’s reputation for design and manufacturing excellence and product quality to thrive as Marketplace sellers and bring more choice to our U.S. customers with speed and scale,” Carithers said.
