Walmart began accepting applications today for its tenth annual Open Call event, inviting domestic small business owners and entrepreneurs to apply for the opportunity to pitch their products to be sold through Walmart or Sam's Club.
Open Call is part of Walmart's 10-year, $350 billion commitment to strengthening U.S. manufacturing by sourcing products that are made, grown, or assembled in the U.S., according to the company. Open Call will take place October 24 and 25, during Manufacturing Month 2023.
The company’s largest sourcing event, Open Call included more than 1,100 participants last year. Entrepreneurs who earn a "golden ticket"—signifying a deal for Walmart to sell their products on its shelves or online—reach new customers, facilitating growth. All finalists are given the opportunity to participate in mentoring sessions with Walmart leaders and guests in addition to a one-on-one pitch meeting with merchants.
Walmart has helped thousands of small and medium businesses through the event, with many expanding their U.S. manufacturing footprints and creating new manufacturing jobs in their local communities.
To increase the reach of this year’s event, Walmart kicked off the Made Local trailer tour in Maryland. It will travel to Philadelphia, Cleveland, Indianapolis, and Chicago. Business leaders that visit the trailer can record a video to apply for this year’s Open Call and meet local suppliers.
Applications are open through August 18.
