Walmart announced yesterday that it will make Inhome Delivery Service an optional ad-on to the Walmart+ subscription. Inhome Delivery is a system that goes one step further than Walmart+’s front door delivery model by placing the groceries directly into the refrigerator, or whichever location in the house the customer prefers to receive them.
With Inhome, users upload garage or house keypad codes to grant Walmart associates access to the home, and customers give directions on where the food should be stored. If a house does not have keypad access, users can schedule a consult with the company to fit a Walmart-approved lock to a home entrance.
“Our members want options and a shopping experience that is easy to navigate and accommodates their individual needs, while saving them time and money—this is true now more than ever,” said Chris Cracchiolo, senior vice president and general manager of Walmart+, in a statement.
Along with the hypermarket’s service combination announcement, it also disclosed that Inhome will soon launch in many new markets, including Miami, Tampa, Orlando, Dallas, Austin, San Jose, and San Francisco, effectively doubling the service availability of the feature.
“InHome has one of the highest customer experience ratings in the business, and now we’ve made it even easier to access in even more locations as we grow to reach over 30 million households by the end of the year,” said Whitney Pegden, vice president and general manager of Inhome, in a statement.
Walmart+ members can add Inhome for an extra $7 a month, bringing the cost of both services to $138 a year.
