Ukraine to Sue Over Food Import Bans

Ukrainian officials shared that the country plans to sue Poland, Hungary, and Slovakia in the World Trade Organization because of bans on Ukrainian agricultural products, reports Reuters

The news followed the three countries’ decision to ban imports of Ukraine’s key commodities, including wheat, maize, rapeseed, and sunflower seed. Transit of these cargoes to the three countries that are then exported to other countries, however, is still allowed.

Radoslaw Fogiel, the head of Poland’s parliamentary foreign affairs commission, said Ukraine’s decision to sue would antagonize the country.

"Our decision is not aimed at Ukraine, it is dictated by the protection of the Polish farmer and the protection of Poland's interests," he said. Full Story (Subscription required)
