Specialty Food Association

Upcycled food company Renewal Mill and regenerative organic snack brand Moonshot are bringing together 10 sustainable food companies to offer a direct-to-consumer snack box of plant-based foods to celebrate Earth Day. Debuting today, the Ultimate Earth Day Snack Box features brands using upcycled ingredients, regenerative organic ingredients, and carbon sequestering ingredients. Seven of the 10 brands are also female founded.

Items include Mango Iced Tea from Wize Coffee Leaf, Cheddar Cheezish Gluten-Free Crackers from Ancient Provisions, Tahini Granola Bites from Alta Goods, Puffed Kelp Chips from 12 Tides, Cracked Black Pepper Mushroom Jerky from Munchrooms, Sourdough Sea Salt Crackers from Moonshot Snacks, Kelp Jerky from AKUA, Dark Chocolate Candy Coated Peanuts from GoodSam, Upcycled Dark Chocolate Brownie Mix by Renewal Mill, and the Superfood Bar from I Am Grounded.

The box is for sale on Renewable Mill’s website, as well as on sustainable marketplace Zippy Pantry and select participants’ websites, for $67. Five percent of proceeds from the box will be donated to 350.org, an environmental organization with the goal of ending fossil fuels and building a world of renewable energy.

“Recognized as the largest secular observance in the world, Earth Day is the perfect opportunity to use delicious food as a tool to educate consumers on the important link between the food system and climate change,” said Claire Schelmme, CEO of Renewal Mill. “We can all snack our way to measurable impact.”

In addition, the ten brands will be hosting an Instagram and email newsletter giveaway on April 1 to give boxes to three lucky winners. Sales begin mid-March and will run through Earth Day 2021.
