Stop & Shop Pilots Grocery Pickup Locker

Specialty Food Association

Stop & Shop is piloting a grocery pickup locker at one of its Boston locations, reports Supermarket News. The new Locker Pickup unit, situated at the main entrance of its 1620 Tremont St. location, enables customers to order their groceries online and pick them up from the secure, temperature-controlled locker at a designated time.

Each pickup order has a $2.95 fee and certain age-restricted or oversize items aren’t available through the service.

“Stop & Shop is dedicated to providing innovative grocery solutions for our customers, especially as we continue to navigate the pandemic,” said Stacy Wiggins, vice president of e-commerce operations at Stop & Shop. “The Locker Pickup program is another way we’re working to accelerate our e-commerce offerings so that our customers can shop for and pickup their groceries at a time that’s most convenient for their schedule.”

The retailer may deploy additional lockers if the pilot proves successful. Full Story
