Starbucks to Debut Cold Cups With Less Plastic
Starbucks will introduce cold cups made with 10 to 20 percent less plastic than previous versions, depending on size, according to the company.
The single-use cups will cost less to make than previous versions and also help reduce emissions and conserve water in the production process, while streamlining the workflow for employees by consolidating lid combinations and simplifying storage, according to Starbucks.
The cups are part of Starbucks commitment to cut its carbon, water, and waste footprints in half by 2030. Also in that timeframe, it has committed to making sure all of its packaging is reusable, recyclable, or compostable.
Starbucks recently began accepting reusable cups for drive-through and mobile orders.
