Starbucks Adds Value Meal Offerings
Starbucks is the latest national chain to follow the value meal trend through its Pairings Menu, reports Investopedia. Last month, McDonald’s, Burger King, Wendy’s and other fast-food chains rolled out similar promotions.
Starbucks’ option allows customers to order a food and drink item for a lower joint price. Menu offerings include a coffee or tea with a buttered croissant starting at $5 and a beverage and breakfast sandwich starting at $6.
The Pairings Menu rollout follows a bleak quarterly earnings and revenue report that shows Starbucks' same-store sales declined, according to the report.
“Many customers have been more exacting about where and how they choose to spend their money” because of current economic conditions, said Starbucks CEO Laxman Narasimhan during the recent earnings call.
As inflation has caused customers to pull back on spending, fast-food chains, including McDonald’s unveiled deals to regain customers. Earlier this year, McDonald’s CFO Ian Borden said that inflation was affecting the chain’s sales as lower-income consumers dialed back on restaurant spending. Full Story
