During last month's Specialty Food Live! event, food makers showcased their new and bestselling products in virtual showrooms. Here are some snacks that made their debut.
African food company Yolélé rolled out its first snack product, Fonio Chips, made from fonio and cassava. The chips are available in four flavors, inspired by the ingredients and tastes of West Africa. Sea Salt showcases toasty flavors of fonio and cassava; Yassa! Is inspired by one of Senegal’s most iconic dishes, featuring bright habanero chili, sweet onion, and zesty lime; Afro-Funk combines spicy ginger with dawadawa, a fermented locust bean found in the pod of a drought-resistant African tree, with a umami flavor; and Greens! is made with nutrient-dense moringa leaf and bright, citrusy baobab fruit, which combine for a tangy, earthy bite, according to the company.
Laura's Gourmet Granola has introduced two new chef-created, soy-free, gluten-free, and vegan granola flavors. BlueBerry Bliss Crunch, a new flavor, was developed to bring positivity and brightness to 2020, according to the company. Dark Chocolate Crunch, a limited-time flavor, will be available from February through April 2021. This launch comes on the heels of Laura’s Gourmet Granola earning a woman-owned business certification last month from The Women’s Business Enterprise National Council.
Hippie Snacks has launched an Almond Crisps product and a new Cauliflower Crisps line extension. The Almond Crisps, available in Sea Salt, Rosemary, and Cheezy Chive flavors, feature real almonds as the first ingredient. The Cheeze Cauliflower Crisps use real cauliflower as the first ingredient and have a plant-based cheese flavor. Other Cauliflower Crisps flavors include Original and Classic Ranch.
