Southeastern Grocers Aids Local Schools

Southeastern Grocers, the parent company of Winn-Dixie, Fresco y Más, and Harveys Supermarket, has announced that a $340,000 donation will be used to assist over 420 public schools throughout the Southeast. The money was raised through a community donation program held by the retailer.

Customers donated for three weeks by opting to round up their grocery bills and/or purchase reusable Community Bags. The funds will support each store’s local school partner, ensuring staff and educators have appropriate supplies and resources to work most effectively.

“We are profoundly grateful to our generous customers and associates who supported this vital cause through our community donation program, which furthers our commitment to enrich local schools and empower the leaders of tomorrow,” said chief people officer for Southeastern Grocers Raymond Rhee in a statement. “Our schools serve as the foundations of our communities, and we believe it’s our responsibility to inspire students to become their best selves and uplift dedicated teachers as they guide them.”

In 2021, the grocer and its philanthropic arm, the SEG Gives Foundation, donated $352,000 to over 400 schools, demonstrating its commitment to education and community success. Moreover, the company recently awarded $70,000 in scholarships to 28 of its associates through the SEG Scholarship Program.
