SFA members Patagonia Provisions and True Made Foods have made Fast Company’s list of the 10 most innovative food companies of 2021.
Patagonia Provisions is recognized for its work with the Rodale Institute to create the Regenerative Organic Alliance and the pivot of its online marketplace to carry products made with regenerative organic ingredients or those that are “on the road to regenerative.”
”Last year Patagonia Provisions transitioned its e-commerce site to be a one-stop-shop for regenerative organic products from growers and producers from all over the world,” Birgit Cameron, head of Patagonia Provisions, told SFA News Daily. “Doing what’s right for our health and the health of the planet by sourcing products from like-minded farmers, fishermen, and purveyors committed to restoring, rather than depleting, the earth has resulted in customer confidence and brand loyalty. We want to continue to pave the way for farmers and producers to adopt these practices and provide them with a platform and community throughout their certification journey.”
True Made Foods, which uses fruits and vegetables to replace sugar in ketchup, sriracha, and barbeque sauce, is now the official provider for the Boston Red Sox, and top line sales have grown 115 percent year over year. Grocery sales of True Made Foods products have grown 500 percent.
Other companies that made the list include pea-protein maker Purish, dairy-free ice cream maker Perfect Day, online organic grocery store Thrive Market, New York-based food delivery company Goldbelly, school meal provider Revolution Foods, maker of produce coating Apeel, food tech provider Winnow Solutions, and zero-calorie sweetener maker Purecane.
“Whether they are developing new products for grocery aisles or creating new marketplaces where shoppers might find them, these 10 companies point the way forward for the entire food industry,” said Fast Company. Full Story
