Research: One-Third of Consumers Plan to Adopt Cultured Meat

Specialty Food Association

About one in three respondents surveyed by Future Meat Technologies, which is developing technology to produce cultured meat, plan to adopt cultured meat in their diet when launched. More than 2,000 American consumers were polled for the research that was conducted in partnership with Provoke Insights.

It also found that:

• 58 percent of respondents have a general awareness of cultured meat.

• "Cultured meat" is the preferred term by US consumers, closely followed by "cultivated meat" – as opposed to "cell based meat" or "cell cultured meat."

• Over half of respondents have actively changed their diets to become more "conscious," meaning they've adopted a specific type of dietary regimen.

"Cultured meat is closer than ever to the market,” said Rom Kshuk, CEO of Future Meat Technologies, in a statement. “As leaders in this new industry, it is on us to not only create the product, but also to help the market get familiar with it, mitigate concerns and make it accessible to end consumers.”
