The vegan fast-food chain Odd Burger announced today that it has secured land in London, Ontario to develop a new 50,000-square-foot manufacturing facility. The land was purchased directly from the city yesterday.
Located on Innovation Drive, an Industrial Park created by the city to attract innovative and sustainable businesses to the area, the site can be expanded to almost 150,000 square feet as needed.
Preposterous Foods Inc., the food technology and manufacturing subsidiary of Odd Burger will operate the new location, producing the plant-based proteins and dairy-free sauces in Odd Burger dishes. The facility will support hundreds of restaurant locations across North America and be the home base of the company’s retail product line, expected to launch in grocery stores and direct-to-consumer.
"We are thrilled to commence this next chapter of growth for our company and we believe that London is the best place in the world to execute our vision for a more sustainable future," said James McInnes, co-founder and CEO of Odd Burger, in a statement. "We will be creating one of Canada's most advanced plant-based food manufacturing facilities and we believe that through this investment we will be able to make a tremendous change in the industry by creating more affordable, healthy and sustainable food."
Odd Burger has 92 locations that are either operational or expected to be opened in the next few years, and currently seeks development agreements in the US.
