Specialty Food Association

The 63 Madison Avenue Whole Foods location in New York City’s NoMad neighborhood opened its doors Wednesday. The 54,000-square-foot space features over 1,000 local items picked by local forager for Whole Food’s northeast region, Christopher Manca.

The location debuts many new suppliers and products including Nguyen Coffee Supply’s Vietnamese coffee beans, Black Seed Bagels’ frozen bagels, and Rind’s specialty cheeses.

The market also includes:

• Produce sourced from local farmers

• A specialty department celebrating cheesemakers and artisan producers

• Full-service seafood counter with wild-caught or responsibly farmed offerings

• Full-service meat counter with local products and made-in-house sausages

• Bakery with fresh-made bread and pastries

There are also on-site dining options from Za’atar, a quick-service Mediterranean eatery, Nomad 63, a bar offering beer, wine, and small bites, as well as a full-service Café Grumpy coffee bar.

In an effort to give back to the community they serve, Whole Foods will donate $9,000 and fresh food to Rethink Food, an organization determined to improve the food system. The store will also sponsor the Madison Square Park Conservancy’s Pollinator Picnic, and will donate $15,000 in support of the Flatiron/23rd Street Partnership Business Improvement District’s public art and fitness programs.
