Moroccan Pavilion to Feature Unique Specialties

Foods from the Kingdom of Morocco, the 2023 Summer Fancy Food Show partner country which touts sustainable food practices, an ideal climate for growing high-quality ingredients, and a unique culinary heritage, will be represented by 40 companies in the Moroccan Pavilion (booth #1618) later this month at the Show.

"The Specialty Food Association is thrilled that Morocco will be our partner country sponsor for the 2023 Summer Fancy Food Show," said Bill Lynch, SFA president. "Morocco has a rich culture that produces an array of specialty food products, and I look forward to our buyer community experiencing the culinary treasures Morocco will be bringing to the Show."

Now is an opportune time to learn about these products as last year marked record highs for Moroccan agricultural and seafood exports to the U.S., which reached $439 million, according to Morocco Foodex, organizer of the Moroccan Pavilion. The growth was driven by citrus ($172 million), processed agricultural products such as canned olives ($69 million), the canned fish segments ($93 million), and other categories. Buyers will have the chance to learn about these and other products at the Show.

“We have a wide range of healthy and sustainable products such as organic and extra virgin olive oil, canned seafood (sardines, mackerel, anchovies), preserved olives, red peppers, capers, and lemon,” according to Morocco Foodex. “Pasta, couscous, and confectionery products will also be available.”

To ensure the quality and safety of its exported food products, Morocco has implemented stringent quality control measures and food safety regulations. These measures are in line with international standards, giving buyers confidence in the reliability and safety of Moroccan food products, according to Morocco Foodex.

Also contributing to the reliability of Moroccan specialties is the Kingdom’s geographic location at the crossroads of Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

“This location facilitates efficient trade and provides access to diverse markets,” according to Morocco Foodex. “The country benefits from its strategic position, allowing it to reach international buyers and establish trade partnerships across different regions. Moreover, logistic infrastructure, such as the Tanger Med port, also contributes to the competitiveness of Moroccan exports. The efficient transportation and delivery systems ensure that products reach their destinations on time, meeting the expectations of international buyers.”
