Mondel?z International's Dirt Kitchen is testing a better-for-you snack bar that uses technology that combines ingredients without binders or added sugar, reports Food Dive. The technology, developed by Israel-based company Torr FoodTech, uses mechanical pressure and processes like ultrasound energy to create a snack bar that has a unique texture and taste profile.
Dirt Kitchen, created through SnackFutures, Mondel?z’s innovation and venture arm, has previously focused on chip-like snacks made with vegetables like tomatoes, zucchini, and green beans.
The bar comes in four flavors: tomato, raisin, and black pepper; apricot, beets, and pumpkin seeds; almond, raisin, and carrot; and apple, cinnamon, and carrot. Mondel?z and Torr will reassess after three to six months once they have collected consumer feedback before determining how to move forward. Full Story
