Mobile market Robomart has launched in West Hollywood, California, reports Grocery Dive. Currently, the company deploys two models; a snack market that offers products like candy bars, chips, and soda, and a pharmacy market that carries shampoo, hand sanitizer, and pain relievers. Each market carries around 500 packs of 50 products. Though the markets currently have drivers, the company plans to have fully autonomous vehicles “as regulation allows.”
To purchase items from Robomart, customers can call the mobile market to them via their phone and choose items once it arrives. It uses a proprietary RFID-based checkout system (like Amazon Go) that allows shoppers to grab items and walk away.
The company plans to launch a Grocery Robomart that includes fresh fruits and vegetables, along with Pantry, Deli, and Café markets in the coming months. Full Story
