Former SFA Board Chair, Michael Silver, Dies
Michael Silver, director of operations of Neomonde Baking Company, has died. Silver served as Specialty Food Association board chair from 2012-2014 and was a 2017 SFA Hall of Fame inductee.
“I was fortunate to work with Mike during his tenure on the board and he was truly a kind soul who cared about the SFA and the specialty food community, having served on over 20 councils and committees,” said SFA president Bill Lynch. “We send our condolences to Silver’s family for their loss. Mike will certainly be missed by those who knew him.”
Silver was a specialty food veteran, having joined Dewey’s Baking Company in 1992. He developed and ran its wholesale arm, Salem Baking Company, and was pivotal in bringing it to national and international prominence. He then moved on to manage the wholesale bakery business of North Carolina-based Neomonde Baking Company. After a brief stint at Big Spoon Roasters, where Silver helped expand the brand’s retail and direct-to-consumer businesses, he returned to Neomonde.
