Last Thursday, Meijer unveiled midwestern supercenters in West Branch, Michigan, and Fort Wayne, Indiana.
The stores make use of digital shopping solutions like Shop & Scan, which allows shoppers to scan barcodes via mobile app for easy checkout, as well as Meijer Home Delivery and Pickup services, enabling customers to shop from home. They also feature a pharmacy and general merchandise items.
Both locations demonstrated their support for the communities they will serve through a $25,000 donation to local organizations. The West Branch Meijer donated to local elementary schools to promote early childhood development, as well as the Ogemaw Commission on Aging to support the Meals on Wheels Program. The Fort Wayne store donated to the Fort Wayne Rescue Mission, for people experiencing homelessness, Clean Drains Fort Wayne, and Unity Performing Arts Foundation.
“We believe if we’re just another retailer in the community, then we’re not doing our job right, so we are going to work hard to provide the best shopping experience to our customers,” executive chairmen Hank Meijer said in a statement.
