McCormick has released the 23rd Edition of its annual Flavor Forecast, the brand's report on the latest culinary trends, and announced its Flavor of the Year: Vietnamese x Cajun Style Seasoning.
This year, chefs, culinary professionals, trend trackers, food technologists, and employees collaborated on the predictions. Some of their identified trends include:
• Full Flavored Fats: Consumers and chefs alike are now using fat, from butters to oils, to impart flavor and texture into everyday dishes and drinks.
• Everyday French: Techniques and ingredients of French cooking are becoming more approachable.
• Beyond Heat: Innovations in spiciness has led to interesting pairings, providing more opportunities for enjoyment.
"This year, McCormick is rolling out its most intriguing Flavor Forecast report yet, unveiling key trends that will shape the way that consumers prepare and enjoy foods for the next year," said Kevan Vetter, executive chef, senior director of culinary for McCormick, in a statement. "With the inaugural Flavor of the Year, Vietnamese x Cajun Style Seasoning, McCormick is demonstrating the culinary masterpiece that emerges when cuisines are combined.”
Using insights from the report, McCormick developed the Vietnamese x Cajun Style Seasoning, the Flavor of the Year which incorporates the three major trends.
