A Kroger store in Franklin, Tennessee has converted its checkout area entirely to self-checkout, dismissing the roles of cashier and bagger, reports local news source WKRN.
According to a Kroger spokesperson, the location was selected because of the high rate of customers already opting for self-checkout.
“These allow our customers to scan and bag their own items,” Lauren Bell, corporate affairs manager for Kroger’s Nashville division said. “It’s a fast, friendly experience.” For customers that do not wish to or are unable to scan their own items, staff are still able to help, added Bell.
A similar self-checkout conversion may soon come to another store in the state, according to Kroger. Full Story
