Kroger Debuts Latin Flavor Event
Kroger said Wednesday it is kicking off its Cinco de Mayo celebration with a four-week Latin flavors event.
“This event is a celebration of a culture and flavors that inspire togetherness and a passion for food," said Dan De La Rosa, Kroger's group VP of fresh merchandising, in a statement. "We hope to curate an experience that promises to spark a new culinary adventure, making Latin American recipes approachable no matter your skill level and introduce new foods, spices, and products we know customers will love.”
The retailer is spotlighting various Latin American products both in-store and online, including:
• Bakery Fresh Tres Leches Cake Slices
• Deli Fresh Guacamole and Salsa
• Home Chef Chicken and Carne Asada Street Taco Kits
• Thin Sliced Kroger Mercado Meats in varieties such as Beef Top Round Steak, Beef Ribeye Steak and Beef Bottom Round Steak, and Beef and Chicken Fajitas
• Cilantro Lime Shrimp Bowls
• Avocados, Tomatoes, Onions, Mangos and Mexican Street Corn
• Mission Tortillas and Tortilla Chips
• Goya Beans and Sazon Goya Coriander and Annatto Seasoning
• Cacique Queso Fresco, Crema and Chorizo
• Fanta Soda in varieties such as orange, strawberry, pineapple, and grape
• Kroger Mercado Plantain Strips
• Kroger Mercado Caramel Flan
Customers will also be able to sample products and recipes at Kroger stores that incorporate flavors from Latin America. Additionally, Murray’s cheese will offer demos using related cheeses.
The retailer said it is offering Latin American-inspired recipes on its website, including Yucatecan Chicken Tacos, Empanadas with Pork and Potatoes or Picadillo, Garlic Lime Fajitas, and Grilled Mexican Street Corn. On Kroger’s blog, The Fresh Lane, additional product and recipe ideas can be found.
