Kroger, America’s largest sushi retailer, is commemorating International Sushi Day on June 18 with limited-time offerings and special deals on its fresh sushi made in-store daily.

Among its LTOs is Cheetos Flamin’ Hot California Roll, available until July 31. The roll is coated with crushed Cheetos and topped with a spicy sauce. Later this fall, it will introduce Doritos Flamin’ Hot Limón Shrimp Tempura Roll.

"Roll into Kroger and celebrate International Sushi Day or order for delivery to your doorstep through DoorDash and Uber Eats," said Dan De La Rosa, Kroger's group vice president of fresh merchandising, in a statement. "No matter how you find your favorites or explore innovative new rolls, Kroger's fresh selection of sushi is specially prepared by chefs in our stores each day; promising restaurant-quality rolls at an everyday low price."

Kroger first began selling fresh in-store sushi in 1991, and today offers rolls and related items at more than 1,800 stores. Each week, customers purchase more than one million rolls of sushi from the retailer. Kroger also offers cooked and sashimi sushi rolls, party platters, dumplings, bao buns, poke bowls, salads, and Asian rice bowls.

Through June 18, shoppers will save $2 on any sushi roll that costs $11.99 or greater, when using a loyalty card. When purchased through DoorDash or Uber Eats, rolls are buy-one, get-one free.

Other retailers will commemorate International Sushi Day by offering specialty rolls. More than 1,700 Target, Sprouts Farmers Market, Giant Food Stores, Giant Food Landover, Meijer, Stop & Shop, The Fresh Market, and Lowes Food locations will source the latest collaboration from fresh sushi distributor Hissho Sushi and east-Asian condiment brand Fly By Jing.

The limited-edition Sichuan Chili Crisp California Roll is topped with crunchy fried onions, green onions, sesame seeds, Japanese BBQ sauce, and Fly By Jing Sichuan Chili Crisp infused mayo. It will be available for purchase for $9.49 from June 17 to July 28.

"Hissho Sushi is the perfect partner to bring the bold flavors of Fly By Jing Sichuan Chili Crisp to sushi lovers across the country," said Jing Gao, founder and CEO of Fly By Jing, in a statement. "Our Sichuan Chili Crisp California Roll isn't traditional; it blends my hometown of Chengdu China, with my new home's namesake sushi roll. It's vibrant, fiery, and definitely addictive—this will be your new favorite lunch, dinner or snack."
