Specialty Food Association

Instacart, the grocery delivery company, provides a new solution for same-day or scheduled delivery, allowing bulky items to be delivered alongside grocery essentials.

The new offering, called “Big & Bulky,” is powered by the company’s Carrot Delivery fulfillment technology which is the same process that enables consumers to order grocery items. Outdoor furniture, grills, electronics, and more, can be purchased directly on the app, or on a retailer’s website if powered by Instacart.

“By introducing Big & Bulky, consumers can now access an even wider selection of items for same-day delivery. With football season just around the corner, Instacart’s Big & Bulky solution can provide customers with items like portable grills and tents for a tailgate or a 55-inch TV in case they’re watching from home,” said Daniel Danker, chief product officer at Instacart, in a statement. “As a retail enablement partner, our goal is to support retailers’ bottom lines by expanding their online catalogs through our enterprise solutions.”

According to the company, 97 percent of the people who shop for them and who drive large vehicles opted in to shop and deliver bulky products to Instacart users, demonstrating the capacity to maximize their earning potential while meeting consumer and retailer needs.
