The grocery and food technology company Instacart announced yesterday the debut of Instacart+, formerly Instacart Express. Members of this service will receive new features, free delivery on orders over $35, 5 percent credit on pickup orders, reduced service fees, and a shared subscription opportunity.
“With today’s launch, we’re making Instacart+ the most cost-effective way for families to buy groceries and essentials with Instacart, delivered in as fast as 30 minutes,” said Daniel Danker, head of product at Instacart.
Starting next week Instacart+ subscribers will benefit from "first-of-their-kind" features, including family accounts that can share information and functionality between users, family carts that allow households to cart build together, and chase cardmember benefits.
Platform subscribers engage almost twice as much as non-subscribers, which likely contributes to the new pricing structure rollout. The increased engagement leads to higher gross transactional revenue per order, more instances of habitual ordering, and ordering from a larger diversity of retailers than standard customers.
Instacart can be used to shop online for groceries, household needs, ready-to-eat meals, pet food, prescriptions, electronics, and more.
