Hannaford Hunger-Fighting Program Returns

Hannaford Supermarkets has brought back its holiday campaign, Hannaford Helps Fight Hunger, a program that provides meals to those experiencing food insecurity across New England and New York.

Now through December 31, Hannaford customers may donate $5 or $10 to local food pantries at the register by adding a Hannaford Helps Fight Hunger donation card to their order. Donation cards are available at in-store displays. Hannaford To Go customers can also add a donation card to their online order. All donations go directly to local food pantries in the store’s community.

“Hannaford is committed to making a real, positive impact in our communities and this annual effort is a perfect example of that longstanding commitment,” said Hannaford community relations manager, Sherri Stevens, in a statement. “Every penny raised through Hannaford Helps Fight Hunger goes directly to local hunger relief organizations. We thank our customers for their continued partnership as we work together to end food insecurity.”

The Hannaford Helps Fight Hunger program also includes a “You Buy, We Give” initiative, which runs November 12 through December 9. For every participating product purchased, Hannaford will donate 50 cents to regional food banks, up to a total of $100,000. Participating products include Hannaford Canned Vegetables, Hannaford 28-ounce Canned Tomatoes, Hannaford 4-pack Fruit Cups, and Hannaford Shredded Wheat Cereal.

In 2022, Hannaford Helps Fight Hunger generated more than $840,000, or the equivalent of nearly 8.5 million meals, to support individuals and families experiencing food insecurity.
