The newest Whole Foods will open in Kentwood, Michigan, in the Greater Grand Rapids area, on Wednesday, August 17. The 45,400-square-foot location will feature over 200 local items from Michigan, Wisconsin, and Indiana, all hand-picked by the local forager for Whole Foods’ Michigan stores, Mike Neill.
The shop’s features include:
• Organic, conventional, and Sourced for Good local produce options
• Full-service meat counter with dry-aged beef, made-in-house sausage, local offerings, and more
• Full-service seafood counter where all items are either sustainable wild-caught or Responsibly Farmed
• Specialty department with local cheeses, overseen by cheese mongers and headed by a certified cheese professional
• Baked items made in-house, special diet items, and local options
• Full-service coffee bar with coffees, lattes, cold brew, and teas.
To give back to the Grand Rapids and Kentwood communities, 100 percent of proceeds from local products purchased at the store between August 17-21 will be matched and donated to Green Apple Pantry, a food pantry. Additionally, from September 6-9, the supermarket will donate 1 percent of each day’s sales to benefit four local schools in the area and will provide support for local non-profit organizations.
