Giant Pushes Lower-Priced Private Labels
Giant Food has lowered prices on hundreds of its store-brand products, which include the Giant brand, Nature's Promise, Taste of Inspirations, Smart Living, Always My Baby, Companion, and CareOne. Loyalty cardholders can also now earn double the points for every dollar spent on over 12,000 store-brand items. These points can be redeemed for grocery savings, gas savings, or unique product offerings during future trips.
The retailer is using “Compare and Save” shelf tags that highlight the price comparison between its store brands and national brands, to help shoppers identify eligible products. Items range from staples such as bread, milk, and bottled water to bacon, frozen vegetables, cheese, health, and personal care products, as well as fresh products across its meat, seafood, and produce departments.
"At Giant Food, we have always offered great savings to our customers through our weekly Bonus Buy promotions," said Ira Kress, president of Giant Food, in a statement. "With our new program, we aim to introduce more shoppers to our lower-cost store-brand items, which deliver the same quality as national brands."
