At the recent Wall Street Journal Global Food Forum, Jason Buechel, Whole Foods Market chief operating officer and future CEO, shared his personal connections to the market, and affirmed his desire to advance the company’s 42-year legacy by nourishing people and the planet.
“We are looking to reconnect to many parts of our heritage as a company,” Buchel said during the Forum. “One of my top goals is to reignite the connection to our higher purpose, mission, and core values with our team members … For us, we’ve always been a purpose-driven organization, and reconnecting to those roots, I think, is important.”
In his current role, Buechel provides operational support to 105,000 employees in the U.S., Canada, and U.K. Additionally, he oversees technology, supply chain and distribution, cross-functional business integration, and HR functions.
John Mackey, the current CEO, will retire in September 2022, at which point Buechel will assume the role.
