Fresh Thyme Market Donates $800k to Feeding America

Specialty Food Association

Fresh Thyme Market has donated over $800,000 to Feeding America, an organization that provides food to people in need through a nationwide network of food banks. The donation will be spread across the Fresh Thyme Market footprint supporting local food banks throughout the Midwest, including St. Louis Food Bank, Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin, Second Harvest Heartland, Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana, Forgotten Harvest, and Mid-Ohio Food Bank.

It was in partnership with its customers that Fresh Thyme was able to give such a substantial donation. The grocer hosted a Round Up at the Register program in 2021 at all of its locations so customers could donate while they shop. Along with Round Up at the Register, customers could participate in a Grab and Give initiative that allowed them to purchase pre-bagged groceries at checkout that would go directly to local food banks.

"As an organization, Fresh Thyme Market is dedicated to providing customers with real, quality food within our local communities to promote access to proper nutrition," says Fresh Thyme Market President Gerald Melville, in a statement. "With the culminated efforts of both the Fresh Thyme family and our customers, we can aid in providing our local communities with resources dedicated to the fight against hunger.”

In addition, in December, the grocer announced a donation of $150,000 to the St. Louis Area Foodbank School-Based Market Program, whose goal is to alleviate child hunger in America.
