Foster Farms to Vaccinate 85 Percent of Employees

Specialty Food Association

Eighty-five percent of employees at poultry company Foster Farms have signed up to get COVID vaccines, distributed through its Cherry Avenue facility in Fresno, California, reports ABC30. The company received enough vaccines from Fresno County to cover all 1,000 of its employees and expects they will all opt-in before the distribution is over.

“The Fresno County Department of Public Health is pleased to work with Foster Farms on this pilot project to learn how large employers can implement vaccination clinics at their worksite including learning communication strategies, understanding vaccine uptake, administering doses in different workplace settings, and providing safety protocols. We want to design a scalable model for vaccination clinics that can be used by other employers,” said David Pomaville, FCDPH Director, in a statement.

"The best thing we can do is vaccinate these people," said Foster Farms VP of communications Ira Brill. "And I don't think we can ever forget that these are the people that very selflessly keep the food in all of our tables."

Vaccination at the Cherry Avenue facility is voluntary and will be offered on site, at no cost to Foster Farms employees. Foster Farms will compensate employees for time spent during the vaccination process. Full Story
