Food Delivery Robot Comes to LAX

Specialty Food Association

Los Angeles International Airport is launching a pilot program for a 40-pound cargo bot that will deliver food to customers throughout the airport, reports The Spoon. The NomNom robot, which uses cameras and sensors to follow its handler around the airport, is designed and built by Piaggio Fast Forward. It is a semi-autonomous vehicle that moves at 6 miles an hour and uses a human guide to navigate the airport.

The offering was developed in a partnership between LAX and AtYourGate, a food delivery service provider for airports. When a consumer orders food through the airport’s food delivery portal LAX Order Now, guests at eligible terminals will be given an option to have the order delivered by the bot, along with an estimated delivery time.
