Jorge and Tiffany, the entrepreneurs behind Flor de la Jara Olive Oil, say that they’re “not just a married couple—we’re the best team ever.” That this dynamic duo went into business producing and selling olive oil is perhaps no surprise; Jorge comes from a Spanish family that’s produced olive oil for three generations. But these SFA members say that the magic of their products is rooted in the combination of their two unique backgrounds, as Tiffany’s Jamaican heritage, love for cooking, and passion for healthy eating has inspired the evolution of Flor de la Jara’s three extra virgin olive oils. Read on for a look behind the curtain at Jorge and Tiffany’s journey to become specialty food makers.

Please walk us through your product line and what makes your olive oils unique!

Our brand offers three distinct monovarietal extra virgin olive oils—Picual, Cornicabra, and Arbequina—each with its own unique flavor profile. Whether you’re looking for the bold, peppery finish of Picual or the delicate smoothness of Arbequina, we provide versatile, premium olive oils that elevate every dish with the richness and tradition of Spanish craftsmanship.

Every step of the process is handled within our family, with love and care. From hand-harvesting the freshest olives using traditional methods, to cold milling, bottling, and shipping, we ensure full traceability and preserve the integrity and health benefits of each bottle.

Our family olive grove, located in the fertile region of La Jara, Montes de Toledo in Spain, has been cultivated for generations. The century-old trees continue to bear fruit that has nourished our family for years, and we take immense pride in sharing this legacy with families across the country.

Jorge comes from three generations of olive oil producers in Spain. How does that heritage play into your brand story? How does the addition of Tiffany’s Jamaican heritage influence the story?

Jorge’s heritage as a third-generation olive oil producer is deeply woven into the fabric of FLOR DE LA JARA. His experience and knowledge of olive cultivation and oil production, passed down through generations, gives our brand a rich foundation of tradition and expertise. This legacy ensures that every bottle reflects the centuries-old techniques and the pride of Spanish craftsmanship.

Tiffany’s Jamaican heritage adds another layer of uniqueness to our story. Her traditional family recipes when combined with FLOR DE LA JARA help to further expand the versatility of our oil. Furthermore, her passion for nutritious, wholesome products blends perfectly with Jorge’s expertise, creating a dynamic partnership.

Together, we are not just a married couple—we’re the best team ever. FLOR DE LA JARA is more than a brand; it’s the realization of a shared dream, combining family tradition and a commitment to delivering the finest extra virgin olive oil. Our different backgrounds allow us to offer a product that is both rooted in tradition and inspired by a passion for health and flavor.

We love your Instagram recipe videos. What inspired you to start inviting your audience into your kitchen?

Our love for cooking and our shared passion for quality food and healthy living naturally inspired us to bring our audience into our kitchen. It’s more than just showcasing recipes—it’s about sharing a part of ourselves with our followers. We wanted to invite them to experience the same joy and connection that we feel when creating meals with FLOR DE LA JARA olive oil. By doing this, we hope to inspire others to prioritize health, flavor, and the simple pleasure of cooking with high-quality ingredients.

You exhibited at the 2024 Summer Fancy Food Show. What was that experience like?

Exhibiting at the 2024 Summer Fancy Food Show was a fantastic experience for us. It provided invaluable insight into the U.S. food industry, helping us connect with new clients, establish important contacts, and build strong relationships with other companies like ours. The show offered a great platform for both new and established brands to showcase their products and network within the industry. We highly recommend it to anyone looking to grow and expand their reach in the market.

Has there been one big “breakout” moment in your business journey so far?

The moment we decided to create our company was definitely a “breakout” moment for us. It marked the beginning of a new and exciting chapter. However, we believe that the journey has just begun, and there are many more pivotal moments ahead as we continue to grow and evolve. Each new milestone brings us closer to realizing our full potential, and we’re excited for what’s yet to come.

What advice or recommendations do you have for food and beverage entrepreneurs who are just starting out?

The entrepreneurial journey is never easy—it’s filled with ups and downs—but our biggest advice is to never give up. Keep working hard and, most importantly, enjoy the process. Instead of focusing solely on reaching the final goal, take time to appreciate every step along the way. There’s nothing more fulfilling than loving what you do. Keep dreaming, and don’t stop until you turn those dreams into reality.
