Fast-Food Chains in California Raise Prices
Burritos and burgers in the Golden State have gotten more expensive since higher minimum wage went into effect on April 1, reports The Wall Street Journal.
Since September, when California moved to require large fast-food chains to begin paying workers $20 an hour beginning this month, fast-food and fast-casual restaurant prices have risen by 10 percent overall, outpacing other states, according to Datassential.
Prices at Chick-fil-A, Domino’s, McDonald’s, Burger King, Pizza Hut, and Jack in the Box chains have increased since September, according to the report. Chipotle said in an investor call Wednesday that prices at its nearly 500 California restaurants climbed 6 percent to 7 percent during the first week of April compared with last year, according to the report.
