Esposito & Sons Jersey Pork Store, a 100-year-old butcher shop in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, will shutter on April 10, reports Brooklyn Paper.
The shop, which opened in 1922, is run by the third generation of Espositos, who brought their processes and techniques from Italy.
“To our patrons, April 10th will be our last day. It’s tough to say goodbye after 100 years,” read a notice next to the store’s door. “We thank you for your loyalty. Love, the Espositos.”
High rent prices, a decline in business, and the owners not wishing to force a new generation to take over have contributed to the decision to close.
“Carroll Gardens is simply unimaginable without Esposito’s,” noted a customer. Full Story
