DoorDash recently revealed that it has launched its Accelerator for Local Restaurants for its New York and New Jersey cohorts.
According to the company, the program seeks to help level the playing field for entrepreneurs and increase access to opportunities for small businesses, including those owned by women, immigrants, and people of color.
Restaurants that operate in three or fewer locations in New York City and select New Jersey counties are eligible to enter. Applications are open until May 12.
In partnership with Accion Opportunity Fund, Statewide Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey, and The Five-Borough Chamber Alliance, the accelerator will provide $10,000 in grants, training, education, one-on-one customized business advising, marketing benefits, climate-friendly packaging, and more to eligible New York and New Jersey restaurant owners. The 8-week program will begin June 3 and have online and in-person educational opportunities.
In celebration of Earth Day, the online grocer is also partnering with DeliverZero to provide reusable packaging to all selected restaurants as they transition their businesses to a more sustainable future. This will provide the businesses with packaging for up to six months.
Shifting to reusable packaging can help restaurants reduce operating expenses, improve the quality and experience of their food transport, and reduce packaging waste and greenhouse gas emissions, according to DoorDash.
