Dave’s Gourmet, a pasta and hot sauce company, has partnered with Chef Pii, a popular Tiktok creator with over 230,000 followers across platforms, to launch The Pink Sauce.
When the creator tried to launch the product on her own, she sold out of her initial stock immediately; however, issues precipitated due to her lack of food production knowledge on the commercial scale, forcing her to pause production.
Soon after Chef Pii’s Tiktok posts went viral, amassing over 154 million video views, she and representatives from Dave’s Gourmet met to discuss and execute an exclusive partnership whereby the business produces the product at a commercial scale, and sells the item to the foodservice, retail, and ecommerce channels. Chef Pii continues to drive the social media business aspects and weighs in on milestones in the production of the product.
"In less than a week, we nailed it!" said Dave's Gourmet's President David Neuman, in a statement. "Our R&D team was able to re-formulate the sauce to match Chef Pii's exact color and flavor profile for the product and at the same time change some of the ingredients to make the sauce less complicated, dairy-free, and clean of any preservatives, artificial colors, or flavors. The public will end up receiving a shelf-stable version of the sensational sauce that Chef Pii envisioned in her Miami kitchen."
The product and Chef Pii have been featured by many prominent media sources since June and the public is interested in its peculiar look and ingredients. Jade Steger, marketing director for Dave’s Gourmet, said in a statement, “This product resonates with the Millennials and Gen Xers who both adore Chef Pii's vibrant personality and are curious about the delicious and playful condiment that she created."
According to a statement by Dave’s Gourmet, production for the product is planned for this fall. Neuman said, “We are working 24/7 to make it happen.” The company has been contacted by restaurant chains wanting to use the sauce in their stores.
